Yoast Headings not working

My website is www.mainlinecounselingpartners.com. I have installed the yoast seo program. Even though I type in my meta descriptions, google still uses first line of text. Please advise.

I think theme meta description conflicting with plugins description.
You can remove default meta description from "header.php" file.

Thank you for your response. I am not a programmer so can you give more information about how I can find the header php file?

Go to
Appearance > Editor
and search(ctrl+f) header.php there and open it.

Whatever description you add for home page will display as a meta description.

Please check image attached. Which is showing description you have added in the
Dashboard > SEO > Titles & Metas > Home > editing the front page itself
