Work on a theme before it is installed on the host.

Can anyone tell me how to work on a theme before it has been installed on the host/server?

I want to be able to show potential clients a theme with some of their info or just see how the theme works for myself.

You just need to build it on your server first then send them a link. Once they like it or it's approved by your client...you can move it over to their domain.
