Do not use featured homepage

Hi

Instead of using the fancy homepage with the slider, i would like to use just a plain static page with simply the content on the left and the sidebar on the right. When I try to do this, the default home page doesn't show the content I've entered but instead shows either an empty blog page with the hello world sample blog post or the fancy home page with the slider further down the page.

Which ever combination I try it doesn't seem to change and my actual home page doesn't want to display

Firstly
go to
Appearance > Theme Option > General Settings > Front-page On/ Off

and turn it Off.

Now,

Go to Settings > Reading

and select your static page from there.

 

Thanks! I was going in a different way and changing it that way, think it got a bit confused, used the wp customise page rather than the theme options. Whoops!
