Adding Post Excerpts to Homepage

Is there any way, apart from footer widgets to add blog post excerpts to the homepage somewhere or would this require too much customisation?

Hi, Thanks. I've decided to just add the post loop to the footer widget area and that will give a bit of fresh content when they update their blog. That's all they wanted.
