How to change slider transition?

I'm using a child theme for Colorway. I want to change the front page slider transition from fade to glide. I.e. the client wants the slides to glide left, then pause on a slide for about 8 seconds, then glide left and pause on the next slide, etc. She also wants the glide to be an "unhurried speed," not a rapid glide. Thank you for your help.

Hi – Thank you for getting the new code to me so quickly. The change is wonderful – but it appears that there’s one little glitch in the new customized theme you sent me: the buttons below the slider that should allow the user to manually choose another slide are inoperable – and there also are no directional arrows right or left either to allow for manual movement of the slides.

Also the speed of the transition is still too fast. I tried inserting the following into custom CSS to slow down the transition duration (which was set to 0.6s) but it appeared to have no effect:

transition-duration: 1.5s;
}
