two different template files that define Fullpage width

I was trying to modify the Fullwidth Page template. I was editing the file "template-fullwidth.php" but none of the changes were having any effect.

Anyway I discovered that the following file is also defining the Fullwidth Page template "attachment.php". I renamed the template name in this file and voila my changes appeared.

Anyway, my question is why is one template defined twice in two different files with very different designs. And given that this file is title "Attachment Template" does it mean that there is supposed to be a template for attachments???

Can you clarify or fix this please?

    Thanks.

But I have a question for you. When a page uses the default template it is using the following file "Attachment Template (attachment.php)" rather than "Page Template (page.php)". Is this expected behaviour?

I tested this by inserting a comment <!-- page name --> in every template file.

Hmmm, it seems the problem is specific to only one particular page... So I deleted it and created a new page and it correctly used the template from page.php

    Weird
